The Mechanic is responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all mechanical systems and equipment on the drilling installation. The role ensures asset integrity, minimizes downtime, supports drilling operations, and maintains compliance with OEM, client, and regulatory standards.
Must have at least three (3) years' experience working in similar position on an offshore drilling platform.
Must have:
Valid Offshore Medical Certificate
Valid T-BOSIET/T-FOET
Valid CA EBS
Valid STCW Basic Safety Training and Ship Security Awareness
Valid Confined Space Entry Training
Valid Working at Heights Training
Perform preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance on:
Troubleshoot mechanical and hydraulic failures; identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
Oversee and participate in major overhauls, rebuilds, and equipment change-outs.
Ensure all work is performed in accordance with:
Update maintenance records in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) such as AMOS, STAR IPS, SAP, or RigNet.
Participate in risk assessments, toolbox talks, and safety drills.
Support drilling operations by ensuring equipment reliability and minimal downtime.
Respond immediately to urgent breakdowns and operational issues.
Provide technical guidance to drill floor and marine teams during equipment operation.
Supervise Rig Mechanics, Motormen, and Trainees during maintenance tasks.
Assign work priorities and verify task completion to the required standard.
Mentor junior mechanical personnel and support their competency development (OPITO/assessor framework).
Monitor performance of mechanical systems; report anomalies to the Chief Mechanic.
Recommend improvements to equipment performance and maintenance routines.
Support audits, inspections, and class surveys (ABS, DNV, Lloyd’s Register).
