Brunel is seeking a Stevedore to work in a 6-month to 1-year contract (with possibility of extension) with one of our clients in the oil and gas sector! This would be an opportunity to work in their port operations team, onshore, located in West Bank Demerara, Guyana.
Stevedores are responsible for the safe and efficient loading, unloading, and securing of cargo on vessels, barges, and within the port area. This position plays a critical role in supporting offshore supply operations and overall marine logistics.
Prior experience as a stevedore or dockworker in a port, marine, or industrial environment is preferred.
Basic understanding of cargo handling, rigging, and port safety procedures.
Physically fit and able to lift heavy loads, climb ladders, and work in varying weather conditions.
Ability to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays as needed.
Familiarity with oil and gas cargo types (e.g., pipe, casing, equipment) is an asset.
Must be willing to wear all required PPE and participate in mandatory safety training.

Load and unload cargo, equipment, and materials from ships, containers, and trucks using appropriate tools and handling techniques.
Safely secure cargo using slings, chains, straps, or other securing methods in compliance with industry standards.
Work closely with crane operators, riggers, and other port personnel during lifting and transfer operations.
Inspect cargo for damage and report discrepancies to supervisors.
Assist with the staging, sorting, and storage of materials in designated areas.
Follow safety protocols at all times, especially when working near cranes, forklifts, and heavy machinery.
Use hand signals or radios to communicate effectively with crane and forklift operators.
Participate in toolbox talks, safety briefings, and training sessions.
Maintain cleanliness and organization in the cargo handling areas and report unsafe conditions immediately.
Adhere to all port security procedures and site access controls.
