Brunel is seeking a Crane Operator to work in a 6-month to 1-year contract (with possibility of extension) with one of our clients in the oil and gas sector! This would be an opportunity to work in their port operations team, onshore, located in West Bank Demerara, Guyana.
We are seeking a Certified Crane Operator to safely operate heavy lift equipment, including cranes with capacities of up to 200 tons, at their oil and gas port facility. The ideal candidate will have experience with heavy lifting operations in industrial or marine environments, a strong commitment to safety, and a valid crane operator certification.
Valid Crane Operator Certification from a recognized body (e.g., NCCCO, CIC, or equivalent).
Proven experience operating cranes with capacities up to 200 tons, ideally in oil & gas, marine, or industrial environments.
Knowledge of lifting plans, rigging techniques, and load chart interpretation.
Familiarity with OSHA, ASME B30.5, or other applicable crane safety standards.
Strong understanding of load limits, weather impacts on crane operations, and ground conditions.
Skills & Competencies:
Excellent hand-eye coordination and situational awareness.
Strong focus on safety, with the ability to respond quickly to emergency situations.
Effective communication skills to coordinate with riggers, supervisors, and other team members.
Ability to interpret technical drawings, load charts, and lift plans.
Physically fit and able to work in demanding outdoor environments.
Operate mobile, crawler, or fixed cranes (up to 200 tons) to lift, move, and position heavy materials and equipment on site.
Perform daily inspections and routine maintenance of the crane to ensure safe and efficient operation.
Follow lift plans, load charts, and instructions from the lifting supervisor or signal person.
Participate in the setup and dismantling of crane equipment as needed.
Coordinate lifts with riggers, signalers, and ground crew to ensure safe operations.
Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, site policies, and lifting procedures, including compliance with hot work and heavy lift permits.
Maintain accurate records of lifts, inspections, and any incidents or maintenance performed.
Ensure that all lifting activities comply with relevant local laws, international safety standards, and company procedures.
Assist with other yard and facility operations when not engaged in lifting activities.
