This is a hands-on leadership role for a professional who thrives on turning strategy into action. The HR Manager will lead all HR functions from workforce planning and industrial relations to employee engagement and policy implementation while overseeing HR operations and administration. You will design and enforce HR structures that align the subsidiary with head office standards, strengthen industrial relations, and ensure measurable improvements in performance, compliance, and workforce capability. This role supervises the HR Assistant and ensures HR service delivery is accurate, compliant, and responsive.
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related discipline (Master’s degree or HR certification such as SHRM-SCP, CIPD preferred).
Minimum 5 – 8 years’ progressive HR experience, including 3+ years in a management role within manufacturing, FMCG, or similar high-performance environments.
Proven track record in industrial relations, policy development, and performance management at both strategic and operational levels.
Strong knowledge of Guyana labor laws and HR compliance requirements.
Experience in building HR structures and delivering measurable results in people management.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems.

Strategic HR Leadership
Develop and execute a localized HR strategy aligned with SM Jaleel’s corporate vision and business objectives.
Act as a strategic advisor to the General Manager and senior leadership, providing insights on workforce trends, succession planning, and organizational development.
Introduce structured HR processes to standardize practices, improve accountability, and support sustainable growth.
Industrial Relations & Employee Relations
Lead proactive industrial relations management, maintaining productive relationships with union and non-union employees.
Manage grievance handling, disciplinary processes, dispute resolution, and negotiations in line with Guyana labor laws and company policy.
Build IR strategies that reduce disputes and strengthen trust between employees, management, and union representatives.
Performance Management & Accountability
Implement a robust performance management system with clear objectives, measurable KPIs, and continuous feedback loops.
Track and analyze performance data to inform talent decisions, identify skill gaps, and drive improvement plans.
Partner with managers to address underperformance with structured coaching and development plans.
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
Lead recruitment for all levels, ensuring the right people are hired into the right roles.
Conduct workforce planning to optimize headcount, capability, and succession pipelines.
Collaborate with head office to align talent strategies with corporate needs.
Learning, Development & Engagement
Design and deliver targeted training programs that build skills, leadership capability, and future readiness.
Develop engagement initiatives that improve morale, strengthen retention, and connect employees to the company mission.
Evaluate program effectiveness and adapt for maximum impact.
HR Operations, Policy & Compliance
Oversee payroll coordination, benefits administration, leave management, and HR recordkeeping.
Supervise and mentor the HR Assistant to ensure efficient HR administration and service delivery.
Ensure HR policies are compliant with local laws, consistently applied, and clearly communicated.
Audit and update HR processes regularly to maintain efficiency and legal compliance.
