Description

We are seeking a skilled and knowledgeable Butcher to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing, cutting, and processing meat products, ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and presentation. This role requires expertise in various butchering techniques and a commitment to maintaining cleanliness and organization in the work area.

Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; formal training in butchering or culinary arts is preferred.

  • Experience: Previous experience as a butcher or in a meat processing environment is required.

  • Skills:

    • Strong knowledge of various cuts of meat and butchering techniques.

    • Ability to operate butchering tools safely and efficiently.

    • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

    • Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Meat Preparation: Cut, trim, and prepare a variety of meats according to specifications and menu requirements, ensuring portion control and consistency.

  • Quality Control: Inspect meat products for freshness and quality; discard any items that do not meet safety and quality standards.

  • Equipment Maintenance: Operate and maintain butchering tools and equipment, ensuring they are clean, sharp, and in good working order.

  • Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels of meat products and supplies; assist in ordering and receiving stock as needed.

  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all food safety regulations and sanitation practices to maintain a safe working environment.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient service; provide guidance and support on meat preparation techniques.

  • Customer Interaction: If applicable, assist customers with their meat selections, providing knowledge on cuts and cooking methods.

  • Ad Hoc Duties: Perform any other duties related to meat preparation as assigned by the Kitchen Manager or Head Chef.

Working Conditions:

  • This position may require evening, weekend, and holiday shifts based on operational needs.

  • Fast-paced kitchen or meat processing environment; may involve standing for long periods and lifting heavy items.
