Our Inventory & Merchandising Clerk is responsible for maintaining accurate stock records, assisting with inventory control, and ensuring products are properly displayed and organized on the sales floor. The role supports both stock accuracy and product presentation to ensure availability and a well-maintained store environment.
Strong attention to detail
Basic understanding of stock handling and retail display
Ability to follow procedures consistently
Basic numeracy and record-keeping skills
Reliability and honesty (critical for stock accuracy)
Maintain accurate inventory records for all products
Record all stock movements (receiving, transfers, and issues)
Update stock sheets or inventory systems regularly
Assist with daily or scheduled stock counts
Reconcile physical stock with recorded figures
Report shortages, discrepancies, or damaged stock
Assist in checking deliveries against invoices and purchase orders
Record received stock accurately
Report any shortages, damages, or inconsistencies
Ensure proper storage of incoming goods
Ensure shelves and display areas are fully stocked
Arrange products neatly according to company standards
Rotate stock using FIFO (First In, First Out) principles
Check and remove expired, damaged, or outdated items
Maintain clean, organized, and attractive product displays
Monitor fast-moving and slow-moving items
Identify stock gaps and notify management for replenishment
Assist in ensuring key products are always available on shelves
Maintain proper filing of delivery notes, invoices, and stock sheets
Prepare basic inventory and merchandising reports
Report stock issues, shelf shortages, and product concerns
