A cashier is responsible for processing customer transactions accurately and efficiently, handling cash and electronic payments, issuing receipts, and providing excellent customer service. They maintain a clean and organized work area, assist with basic inventory support, and ensure all sales are properly recorded. The role requires attention to detail, good math skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Minimum 1–2 years experience as a cashier, preferably in retail, hospitality, or food service.
Familiarity with POS systems and basic computer skills.

Customer Service
Greet customers politely and professionally.
Answer basic customer queries and provide assistance where needed.
Ensure a pleasant checkout experience.
Transaction Handling
Accurately enter items and enter prices into the system.
Receive payments by cash, credit/debit card, or other methods.
Issue receipts, or change due to customers.
Verify the authenticity of bills and customer identity when necessary.
Cash Register & Drawer Management
Maintain a balanced cash drawer throughout the shift.
Count money in cash drawers at the beginning and end of shifts.
Report any overages, shortages, or discrepancies immediately.
Sales & Record Keeping
Assist with end-of-day cashing up procedures.
Maintain records of transactions for auditing and accounting purposes.
Inventory Support
Alert supervisor to low stock levels at the point of sale (e.g., bags, receipt paper).
Assist in minor stock checks or coordination with inventory clerks.
Cleanliness & Safety
Keep the cashier station clean, organized, and clutter-free.
Adhere to company policies regarding hygiene, dress code, and safety.
Monitor surroundings for suspicious activities and report any irregularities.
