Description

The Senior Accounts Clerk is responsible for overseeing and performing advanced accounting duties, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting the daily operations of the Finance Department. This position ensures compliance, accuracy, and timely processing of financial transactions while providing guidance to junior staff.

Requirements

  • Diploma or associate degree in accounting, finance, or a pass in CAT level III

  • 3–5 years of experience in accounting or finance.

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial procedures.

  • Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks, Peachtree, or similar).

  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to manage deadlines and work under pressure.

  • High integrity and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Recording

  • Prepare and maintain general ledger entries, journals, and reconciliations.

  • Ensure accuracy of financial data and proper documentation.

2. Reconciliation & Reporting

  • Reconcile bank accounts, supplier statements, and employee accounts.

  • Prepare financial reports and summaries for management review.

  • Identify discrepancies and resolve them promptly.

3. Accounts Receivable

  • Review and verify invoices, receipts, and payment requests.

  • Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up for timely collection.

4. Inventory & Asset Management

  • Monitor inventory records and assist in stock reconciliations.

  • Maintain updated records of company assets and depreciation schedules.

5. Internal Controls & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to financial policies and internal control procedures.

  • Support audit preparation and provide required documentation.

  • Identify process gaps and recommend improvements.

6. Supervisory Support

  • Provide guidance and support to junior accounting clerks.

  • Review the work of junior staff to ensure accuracy and completeness.

  • Assist in training new finance team members.

7. Administrative & Other Duties

  • Maintain organized filing systems for financial documents.

  • Assist with budgeting, cash flow monitoring, and financial planning tasks.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
