Description

The Operations & Logistics Lead is responsible for leading the operational and logistics strategy for the Guyana operation, ensuring the efficient management of inventory, warehousing, procurement coordination, and supply chain activities. The role is accountable for maintaining product availability, optimizing logistics processes, and supporting business growth while working closely with the General Manager and Corporate Operations teams in Costa Rica to ensure operational excellence and alignment with corporate standards.

The main objectives of the position include:

1.     Ensure efficient logistics and supply chain operations that support business continuity and customer satisfaction.

2.     Optimize inventory management and logistics processes to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.

3.     Maintain appropriate inventory levels while ensuring product availability and inventory accuracy.

4.     Lead and develop a high-performing operations and logistics team focused on operational excellence.

5.     Ensure compliance with corporate policies, quality standards, and applicable local regulations.

6.     Provide operational analysis and performance metrics that support strategic decision-making by the General Manager and Corporate Headquarters.

 

Requirements

EDUCATION

Required:

1.     Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.

Preferred:

1.     Major Degree or higher in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related discipline.

2.     Professional certification in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Inventory Management, Lean, Six Sigma, APICS, or equivalent.

 

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate should have:

1.     At least six (6) years of experience in Operations, Logistics, or Supply Chain Management.

2.     At least four (4) years of leadership experience managing operational teams.

3.     Experience managing warehouse operations, inventory control, and logistics processes.

4.     Experience implementing operational improvements and process optimization initiatives.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Operations & Logistics Lead shall be responsible for, among others:

1.     Lead all operations and logistics activities for the Guyana operation, ensuring efficient execution of daily processes.

2.     Coordinate the receiving, warehousing, inventory control, and distribution of parts, materials, and products.

3.     Develop and implement inventory management strategies that ensure optimal stock levels while minimizing shortages and excess inventory.

4.     Coordinate procurement, replenishment, importation, and supply planning activities with the Corporate Operations and Procurement teams in Costa Rica.

5.     Develop initiatives to improve supply chain efficiency, reduce operational costs, and increase productivity.

6.     Monitor operational and logistics performance through key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective action plans when required.

7.     Ensure inventory accuracy through effective inventory control practices, cycle counts, and periodic audits.

8.     Supervise warehouse operations, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards.

9.     Coordinate logistics service providers, transportation partners, and suppliers to ensure timely product delivery.

10.  Oversee the efficient handling of returns, warranty claims, and inventory discrepancies.

11.  Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on operational excellence and process optimization.

12.  Prepare operational reports and performance analyses for the General Manager and Corporate Headquarters.

13.  Manage the department's operating budget and ensure efficient utilization of resources.

14.  Lead, coach, develop, and evaluate the performance of the operations and logistics team.

15.  Participate in projects involving new technologies, systems, warehouse improvements, and operational expansion.

16.  Ensure compliance with corporate policies, internal procedures, and applicable regulations in Guyana.

17.  Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers, logistics partners, and Corporate Headquarters.

18.  Perform any other duties related to the position as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
