Description

The Suriname-Guyana Chamber of Commerce (SGCC) is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and professional Administrative & Accounting Assistant to join our Guyana Secretariat in Georgetown, Guyana.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with accounting and administrative experience who is looking to build a career within a dynamic regional business organization. The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting the Chamber's financial administration, membership services, business development initiatives, and major regional events, while gaining exposure to senior business leaders, government officials, and international stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline; or

  • Candidates pursuing CAT/ACCA Applied Skills or an equivalent professional accounting qualification will be considered an asset.

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in accounting, business development, or office administration.

  • Proficiency in QuickBooks is required.

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including formulas, spreadsheets, and financial reporting.

  • Strong client service and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

  • Proactive, dependable, and able to work independently and as part of a team.

  • High standards of integrity, professionalism, and accountability.

Responsibilities

  • Manage invoicing, payment processing, and bank reconciliations using QuickBooks.

  • Support accounts receivable, payment follow-ups, and financial reporting.

  • Provide day-to-day administrative support, including correspondence, filing, and calendar scheduling.

  • Maintain membership records and assist with member onboarding and engagement.

  • Support business development initiatives through administrative coordination and relationship management.

  • Assist in executing Chamber events, trade missions, business forums, and training programmes.

  • Create basic marketing materials using Canva and assist with CRM and social media updates.
