The individual is responsible for preparing nutritious, high-quality meals and baked products for employees, contractors, and visitors residing at the Company's interior camp.
The incumbent is responsible for maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene, sanitation, and kitchen safety while ensuring meals are prepared efficiently to support the operational demands of a remote mining environment. The role also supports inventory control, food preservation, and the proper use and maintenance of kitchen facilities and equipment.
Successful completion of primary education with the ability to read and write well
Certification in culinary arts required
Valid food handler's certificate
Experience cooking in bulk
Ability to bake breads, pastries, cakes, rolls and other baked items.
Strong attention to cleanliness and hygiene
Good time management skills
Ability to work well as a team
Prepare and serve nutritious breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and snacks in accordance with approved menus and operational requirements.
Ensure meals are prepared and served on schedule while maintaining consistent quality and presentation.
Assist in planning menus that provide balanced nutrition and accommodate operational requirements and dietary restrictions where applicable.
Maintain high standards of food hygiene, sanitation, and cleanliness throughout the kitchen and food preparation areas.
Ensure food is handled, stored, prepared, and served in accordance with food safety standards and Company procedures.
Monitor food stock levels and advise the Camp Manager of inventory requirements to avoid shortages.
Inspect food deliveries to ensure quality and freshness and report damaged or spoiled items.
Ensure proper storage, rotation, and preservation of food items using the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) principle.
Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely and report defects or maintenance requirements promptly.
Supervise and provide guidance to Kitchen Assistants during food preparation, serving, and cleaning activities.
Ensure kitchen utensils, equipment, work surfaces, refrigerators, freezers, and storage areas are cleaned and sanitized daily.
Maintain accurate records relating to food usage, stock consumption, and kitchen supplies as required.
Minimize food waste through efficient preparation, portion control, and proper storage practices.
Comply with all Company health, safety, environmental, and food safety requirements.
Support special catering requirements for management meetings, visiting personnel, and Company functions where required.
Perform any other related duties reasonably assigned by Management.
