Description

The Occupational Health, Safety & Environment (OHSE) Officer provides professional expertise and support in all areas of Health, Safety and Environment. The role is responsible for ensuring that the Company’s OHSE programs, policies and practices are effectively implemented and maintained in accordance with applicable government laws, regulations and safety standards.

The OHSE Officer works closely with senior management and operational teams to identify risks, strengthen safety practices, promote regulatory compliance and continuously improve safety programs, contributing to a safe and healthy work environment and improved safety performance across the organization.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management, Human Resources or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.

  • 3–5 years of relevant OSHE experience, preferably within telecommunications, utilities, field operations or another operational environment.

  • Strong knowledge of hazard identification, risk assessment, safety auditing and incident investigation/root cause analysis.

  • Sound knowledge of applicable Occupational Health & Safety legislation, regulations and standards.

  • Experience with contractor safety, corrective action management and safety training.

  • Strong analytical, report-writing, organizational, communication and computer skills.

  • Ability to work independently and effectively engage employees, management, contractors, regulators and external agencies.

  • Must possess a valid Driver’s Licence and be willing to travel to operational locations.

  • Flexibility to support emergency or operational requirements outside normal working hours, when required.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the implementation and continuous improvement of One Communications’ Health, Safety & Environment Management System.

  • Conduct workplace inspections, safety audits, hazard identification and risk assessments across office, warehouse, technical and field operations.

  • Investigate workplace incidents and accidents, conduct root cause analysis, and monitor corrective actions through completion.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable Occupational Health & Safety, environmental and regulatory requirements and Company policies.

  • Monitor contractor safety and promote safe work practices across operational locations.

  • Develop and deliver safety training, toolbox talks and awareness initiatives.

  • Coordinate emergency preparedness, fire prevention and environmental compliance activities.

  • Track safety performance, identify trends and prepare OSHE reports, KPIs and recommendations for management.

  • Work closely with management and operational teams to strengthen the Company’s safety culture and overall safety performance.
