The Body Work Technician is responsible for preparing, repairing, and refinishing vehicle body surfaces through sanding, priming, and spray painting. This role ensures that vehicles and equipment are restored to a high-quality finish in accordance with safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
Proven experience in automotive spray painting or vehicle bodywork repair.
Knowledge of paint types, mixing processes, and application techniques.
Attention to detail and a strong eye for color and finish consistency.
Familiarity with body repair tools, sanders, sprayers, and masking techniques.
Ability to follow technical instructions and safety guidelines.
Physically fit and able to stand, bend, and lift during extended periods of work.
Certification in auto body repair or refinishing is an advantage.
Working Conditions:
Workshop or spray booth environment with potential exposure to fumes, dust, and chemicals.
Requires use of safety gear such as respirators, gloves, and protective clothing.
May involve standing for long periods and working in confined or noisy areas.
Prepare vehicles and components for painting by sanding, masking, and cleaning surfaces.
Mix and match paint to achieve the correct color and finish.
Apply primer, paint, and protective coatings using spray guns and other application methods.
Perform touch-ups and blending techniques for an even and professional finish.
Repair minor dents, scratches, and surface damage before painting.
Operate and maintain painting equipment and spray booths.
Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations, including use of PPE and proper ventilation.
Inspect finished work for quality, consistency, and accuracy of color match.
Maintain clean and organized workspaces and follow workshop protocols.
Work with other technicians and staff to coordinate tasks and meet project deadlines.
