Civil Foreman (Site)

ARMOROC Construction, part of the JSB Group, is hiring a Civil Foreman to run civil and construction work on the ground across our sites on the East and West Bank Demerara, including Soesdyke, Yarrowkabra and Safa Point. You set out the day's work, direct the gang and the plant, keep the job to specification and programme, and are accountable for safety and output on site. This is a hands-on site role, not an office role - the foreman is on the job with the crew. You report to the Operations Manager and the Civil Engineer Supervisor. Full-time, 6 days a week, site hours. Rate: GYD 8,000 - 10,000 per day, based on experience. Closing date: 10 November 2026.

Must have: 5+ years on civil or building sites, with at least 2 years supervising a gang as foreman, chargehand or lead tradesman.

Must have: Trade background in masonry, carpentry, steel or concrete work - you came up through the tools.

Must have: Able to read construction drawings and set out work from them.

Must have: Able to work with levels and basic setting-out instruments.

Must have: Able to keep a legible daily site record of labour, plant, materials and progress.

Must have: Able to hold a crew to a standard and to a programme.

Must have: Physically fit for full-time site work, 6 days a week.

Must have: Police clearance.

Nice to have: Formal supervisory, OSH or construction safety training.

Nice to have: Experience with earthworks, yard development, drainage or concrete structures.

Nice to have: Experience directing heavy plant on site.

Nice to have: Valid driver's licence and own transport, or living within reach of the East and West Bank sites.

SITE SUPERVISION: Set out the day's work, allocate the gang and confirm every man knows his task before work starts.

Supervise masons, carpenters, steel workers, labourers and contract crews on site.

Read and work from drawings; check levels, lines and dimensions before and during the pour or build.

Keep the job to specification - reject work that does not meet standard rather than passing it on.

Keep the programme and report slippage the day it happens, not at the end of the week.

PLANT, MATERIALS AND LABOUR: Direct excavators, loaders, trucks and other plant on site and confirm the right machine is on the right task.

Call materials forward against the programme and confirm receipt against the delivery note.

Control material use and waste, and account for what was delivered against what was used.

Record daily labour, plant hours, materials used and work completed on the site sheet.

Verify contract and day-labour attendance before it goes to payroll.

SAFETY: Enforce PPE, exclusion zones, excavation support and safe plant movement at all times.

Hold a short toolbox talk at the start of each day and before any high-risk task.

Stop work where it is unsafe. The authority to stop sits with the foreman and is expected to be used.

Report incidents, near misses and damage the same day with photographs.

REPORTING: Submit the daily site report covering labour on site, plant hours, work completed, materials used, delays and their cause.

Flag variations and extra work before carrying them out, not after.
