Description

The Telehandler Operator is responsible for operating telehandlers (telescopic handlers) to move, lift, and place materials and equipment in various construction and industrial settings.

Requirements

Qualifications, Experience, Requirements & Skills:

Education:

High school diploma.

Certification:

Valid telehandler operator certification from a recognized training program.

Valid driver’s license with tractors additional.

Experience:

Previous experience operating telehandler or similar equipment.

Skills:

Strong understanding of safety protocols and operational guidelines for telehandlers.

Excellent area awareness.

Good communication and teamwork skills.

Ability to perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to work in outdoor environments for extended periods

Physical stamina and strength to operate heavy machinery.

Good vision and hearing to recognize hazards.

Working Conditions:

Exposure to outdoor environments and varying weather conditions.

Possible exposure to hazardous materials and noisy environments.

Work may involve extended hours and weekends depending on project requirements.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

-          Operation:

·         Operate telehandlers to lift, move, and place materials at construction sites, warehouses, and other work areas.

·         Manoeuvre the telehandler to the required location and position it safely for operation.

·         Control the boom, forks, and other attachments to load and unload materials.

-          Safety and Compliance:

·         Conduct pre-operation checks to ensure the telehandler is in safe working condition.

·         Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies regarding the operation of telehandlers.

·         Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

·         Report any mechanical issues or safety hazards to the supervisor immediately.

-          Maintenance and Inspection:

·         Perform routine maintenance and inspections on the equipment.

·         Ensure that the equipment is clean and properly secure when not in use.

-          Communication and Coordination:

·         Communicate effectively with ground crew and other team members to ensure smooth operations.

·         Follow instructions from supervisors and team leads regarding specific tasks and locations.

·         Coordinate with other operators and personnel to avoid accidents and ensure efficient workflow.

·         Report all incidents, near misses, and operational issues to the supervisor promptly.
