Description

Main Functions

The Radio Operator relays messages between the rig and onshore bases or other vessels/aircraft. They receive and log transmissions, provide reports and maintain communication equipment in excellent working condition. They also provide information on weather conditions which is relayed throughout the vessel to advise crew and management accordingly for best safety practices.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of offshore experience is desired

  • Relevant radio operator qualifications (GMDSS and CAA certification)

  • Dangerous Goods by Air certification

  • OPITO BOSIET or FOET with CA EBS

  • OGUK medical with more than 1-year validity

  • Passport (more than 6 months validity)

  • Yellow fever vaccine

  • Seaman’s Discharge Book

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and operate radio communication equipment to maintain communication with the offshore drilling rig and support vessels.

  • Record and log all communication transmissions and maintain accurate records.

  • Relay important messages, instructions, and safety alerts to the rig crew and support vessels.

  • Follow established communication procedures and protocols to ensure safety and efficiency of offshore drilling operations.

  • Participate in safety meetings and drills to promote a safe work environment.

  • Ensure that all radio communication equipment is properly maintained and functioning
