Handyman

Demerara Distillers Limited & Subsidiaries (DDL) is seeking applications from interested persons with the requisite qualifications and experience, to fill the position of Handyman. 

• Experience in a similar area of work would be an asset.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

• A high degree of professionalism and confidentiality.

• A minimum of 2 years’ working experience in a similar role.

• Experience with basic plumbing and electrical systems.

• Ability to work with hardware tools and power equipment.

• Perform basic troubleshooting and repairs for plumbing, electrical, and safety systems.

• Maintain grounds, exterior environment, and other concrete surfaces.

• Perform basic tasks including minor painting and filling crevices, changing light bulbs, and cleaning windows and doors.

• Perform routine maintenance on company machinery, equipment, or appliances such as refrigerators, microwaves, stoves, ovens, and coffee makers and escalate issues to the supervisor if needed.

• Detect and report the need for major maintenance repairs.

• Regularly check the facility site to identify issues with litter, mechanical failure, or breakdowns.

• Respond to clients’ maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner and notify the supervisor.

• Maintain the cleanliness of outside spaces such as parking lots, sidewalks, entrances, etc.

• Oversee trash containers on the company premises, and coordinate disposal.

• Ensure fire escape exits and routes are free from obstruction and any hindrance.
