Environmental Officer

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Environmental Officer/Administrator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for acquiring environmental authorizations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and overseeing the implementation, monitoring, and reporting of environmental and safety standards across projects and operations.

• Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Environmental Studies/Science.

• At least one (1) year relevant working experience.

• Apply for and renew environmental authorizations from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and assist with permitting processes, including inspections and submission of data.

• Acquire permits from other regulatory bodies such as Guyana Fire Service, Pesticides and Toxic Chemicals Control Board, Central Housing & Planning, RDCs, GCAA, and GEA.

• Review and update permit conditions, Environmental Management Plans (EMP), SOPs, and Emergency Response Plans.

• Liaise with regulatory agencies and arrange inspections, investigations, or audits as needed.

• Ensure all staff are trained in accordance with EMPs, SOPs, and safety requirements, and are equipped with proper PPE.

• Conduct weekly and monthly site inspections to ensure safe and compliant operations.

• Oversee sampling, testing, and implementation of best environmental management practices.

• Prepare and submit annual compliance reports to regulatory agencies.

• Track deadlines and ensure timely renewal of all required documents and permits.

• Prepare weekly project/operation reports for management.

• Liaise with departments for maintenance scheduling to ensure documentation are maintained, and update customer files.

• Conduct customer site visits with the Agronomist to address complaints and queries, and prepare reports.

• Maintain data for regulatory inspection.
