Welder/Fabricator

To lay out, fit and fabricate metal components to assemble structural forms for use within the Company.

• At least five (5) subjects CXC, inclusive Math & English.

• At least two (2) years relevant experience.

• Certification in welding/Fabrication  

• Experience with parts will be an asset.

• Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines.

·     Lay out, position and secure parts and assemblies according to specifications, using straightedge, combination square, calipers and ruler

·     Tack-welds or welds components and assemblies using electric, gas, arc or other welding equipment

·     Cut work pieces using powered saws, hand shears or hacksaw

·     Melt lead bar, wire or scrap to add lead to join or to extrude melted scrap into reusable form

·     Monitor and manage the Service Departments consumable inventory

·     Install or repair equipment such as lead pipes, valves, floors and tank linings

·     Observe tests on welded surfaces, such as hydrostatics and dimension tolerance to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications

·     Inspect grooves, angles or gap allowances using micrometer, caliper and precision measuring instruments

·     Weld components in flat, vertical or overhead positions

·     Heat, form and dress metal parts using hand tools, torch or arc welding equipment

·     Ignite torch and adjust valves, amperage or voltage to obtain desired flame or arc

·     Analyse engineering fabrication drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly and welding operations

·     Determine required equipment and welding method applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry and welding techniques

·     Ensure all tasks and activities are conducted following the company’s established safety standards and procedures
