Description

The Billing Assurance Specialist is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of billing processes across the fixed consumer product portfolio, with a primary focus on fibre-based broadband services. This role plays a critical part in safeguarding revenue by ensuring that all services delivered—fibre, landline, DSL, wireless voice, and wireless internet—are correctly provisioned, rated, and invoiced.

The ideal candidate will be highly analytical, detail-oriented, and process-driven, with a strong understanding of telecom-building environments. This role requires close collaboration with technical, commercial, billing, and customer-facing teams to minimize revenue leakage, enhance billing controls, and improve overall customer bill quality.

Requirements

§  Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or a related field.

§  Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in billing, revenue assurance, or related operational roles.

§  Experience with fibre broadband, fixed-line services, and wireless data/voice billing is considered an asset.

Technical Skills & Competencies

§  Strong understanding of telecom OSS/BSS environments, mediation platforms, rating engines, and CRM systems.

§  Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel, SQL, or similar analytics tools.

§  High attention to detail with strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.

§  Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and commercial teams.

§  Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive continuous process improvements.

 

Working Conditions

Office-based role with occasional travel to business units, parent company, and subsidiaries.

Travel may be by car or air, depending on location.

Standard office equipment will be used regularly.

Role may involve sitting, walking, standing, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), and frequent interruptions.

Responsibilities

§  Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly billing validation checks across all fixed consumer product lines.

§  Ensure accurate rating and invoicing of fibre broadband, landline, DSL, wireless voice, and wireless internet services.

§  Validate provisioning data to confirm customers are billed only for active and correctly configured services.

§  Oversee test billing cycles and perform bill run integrity checks prior to invoice release.

§  Perform reconciliations between network usage data and billing platform records to identify revenue risks.

§  Identify and resolve discrepancies including unbilled services, inactive-but-billed accounts, incorrect tariff assignments, and missing usage files.

§  Support revenue assurance audits and implement corrective actions to address systemic gaps.

§  Review new product launches, pricing changes, and promotions to ensure billing alignment and risk mitigation.

§  Monitor data feeds between OSS, CRM, mediation, rating, and billing systems to ensure accuracy and completeness.

§  Conduct configuration audits of billing system tables, price plans, and provisioning logic.

§  Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for system upgrades, enhancements, and new feature releases.

§  Develop, maintain, and enhance billing assurance SOPs, control frameworks, and validation checklists.

§  Recommend and implement process and system improvements to increase automation and reduce manual intervention.

§  Track recurring billing issues and collaborate with IT and Network teams to eliminate root causes.

 §  Lead investigations into complex or high-impact customer billing disputes and escalations.

§  Provide expert support to Customer Care, Collections, and Technical Support teams.

§  Ensure timely resolution of billing issues and implement controls to prevent recurrence.

§  Produce recurring reports on billing accuracy, revenue leakage, financial impact, and corrective actions.

§  Establish and track KPIs such as billing accuracy rates, leakage recovery, error frequency, and resolution timelines.

§  Present findings, trends, and recommendations to management.

§  Act as a key liaison between Billing Assurance and cross-functional stakeholders.

§  Represent the Billing Assurance function in internal meetings, projects, and initiatives.
