Description

The Legal Assistant provides administrative and legal support to the Country Manager and the Company's legal function in Guyana. The role assists with contract administration, regulatory filings, document management, corporate governance records, and coordination with government agencies and external legal counsel. The position helps ensure legal matters are managed efficiently while maintaining confidentiality and compliance.

Requirements

  • Certificate, Diploma or Degree in Law, Legal Studies, Business Administration or related discipline.

  • 2–5 years' experience as a Legal Assistant, Paralegal or Legal Administrator, preferably in mining, infrastructure or corporate environments.

  • Experience with contract administration and document management.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and document management systems.

Responsibilities

Strategic Objectives

  • Support the efficient administration of the Company's legal and corporate governance activities.

  • Assist with legal documentation, regulatory submissions and contract administration.

  • Maintain accurate legal records and compliance registers.

  • Coordinate communications with government agencies, external counsel and internal stakeholders.

  • Support implementation of Aris Mining policies and governance standards in Guyana.

  • Key Accountabilities

  • Prepare, format and maintain legal correspondence, contracts and corporate documents.

  • Maintain contract registers, legal files and document control systems.

  • Track permit renewals, licenses, statutory filings and compliance deadlines.

  • Coordinate execution of agreements and maintain executed copies.

  • Liaise with external legal counsel and government agencies on administrative matters.

  • Assist in preparing board papers, resolutions and corporate records.

  • Support policy implementation and document updates.

  • Maintain confidentiality of all legal and commercial information.

Provide general administrative support for the legal function as required.
