About the Role

We are seeking experienced Heavy-Duty Truck Drivers to support our port and logistics operations. The successful candidates will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of pipes, piles, port mafi units, equipment, and other heavy or oversized cargo between operational locations.

The role involves operating heavy-duty tractor-trailer combinations, including long/extended trailer configurations of up to approximately 80 feet, and requires a high level of driving skill, load awareness, manoeuvring ability, and commitment to safety.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  • Valid Motor Truck & Motor Lorry Licence appropriate for the vehicles operated.

  • Minimum 3 years' proven experience operating heavy-duty tractor-trailer combinations.

  • Demonstrated experience operating long or extended trailers, preferably configurations of 60–80 feet or similar.

  • Proven experience transporting pipes, piles, steel, equipment, mafi units, or other oversized/heavy cargo.

  • Experience operating trucks equipped with manual range-and-splitter transmissions, including high/low range selection and double-clutch shifting.

  • Demonstrated ability to safely reverse, manoeuvre, and position long trailer combinations in confined areas and active roadways.

  • Good knowledge of heavy-vehicle safety practices, load securing, vehicle inspection, and defensive driving.

Good knowledge of road safety requirements and traffic regulations in Guyana

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy-duty trucks and tractor-trailer combinations safely and efficiently.

  • Transport pipes, piles, port mafi units, equipment, and other heavy or oversized cargo.

  • Safely manoeuvre and position extended trailer combinations in ports, yards, roads, and other restricted operating environments.

  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks, trailers, and associated equipment.

  • Ensure loads are properly secured and remain stable throughout transportation.

  • Follow established procedures for oversized and heavy-load transportation.

  • Safely connect, disconnect, and inspect trailers and related equipment.

  • Maintain awareness of trailer length, turning radius, rear swing, clearance, and load dimensions when manoeuvring.

  • Operate vehicles in accordance with Guyana's traffic laws, company procedures, and applicable health and safety requirements.

  • Report vehicle defects, mechanical issues, incidents, near misses, and load-related concerns promptly.

  • Maintain accurate vehicle, trip, inspection, and delivery records.

  • Assist with loading, positioning, securing, and unloading activities where required.

  • Maintain the assigned vehicle in a clean, safe, and serviceable condition.

  • Perform other duties related to transportation and logistics operations as assigned.
