We have an excellent opportunity for a Business Development Specialist in our Guyana office.

We are looking for a highly motivated person with strong interpersonal and leadership skills who is driven to overachieve.

Reports to the Owner/Director (Chandie Singh).

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE – Only those that meet the following requirements will be considered for this position.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in marketing or related field or equivalent experience required.

  • REQUIRED - Minimum, 3 years of applicable experience in International Freight Forwarding Sales.

  • Operational knowledge of Freight Forwarding sector an advantage.

  • Familiarity with CRM software

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software, (analyzing spreadsheets and charts)

  • Team player with a can-do attitude.

  • Understanding of sales performance metrics.

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

  • Ability to deliver engaging presentations.

  • Valid driver’s license.

 WORK HOURS AND ENVIRONMENT

Normal working hours for this position are typically Monday – Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, however, working beyond these hours may be required. This position is referred to as a full-time exempt position. This role is based in an office environment with extensive driving for customer visits. For full-time exempt employees, the work schedule is typically 40 hours per work week.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Key responsibilities are as follows:

  • Research ways to penetrate new markets.

  • Qualify leads from marketing campaigns as sales opportunities.

  • Generate new business through cold calls, emails, and social media.

  • Present our company’s capabilities to potential customers.

  • Identify customer needs and suggest appropriate services.

  • Customize service solutions to increase customer satisfaction.

  • Build long-term trusting relationships with customers.

  • Proactively seek new business opportunities in the market.

  • Set up meetings and/or calls between (prospective) customers and Account Executives.

  • Achieve gross profit targets and other company driven targets.

  • Issue and maintain regional RFQs and proposals.

  • Identify market trends and competitive rate actions and communicate those trends to the management team.

  • Identify the competitive service strengths and weaknesses of the company and make recommendations to constantly improve services.

  • Stay up to date with new products/services and new pricing/payment plans.

  • Extensive regional travel and occasional national and international travel. The employee must be able to travel over 50% of the time and drive a vehicle.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.
